God's Little Treasures

We all get blessed everyday by the smallest treasures... and we can not take credit for them... they are GOD given. Janice returned to volunteer on Monday after being on vacation and one of the residents told her how much she was missed. Janice had sent some of the residents post cards while we were gone and one lady was so honored to have gotten one... she told everyone who came in the activites room about her post card.
We travel to Georgia on Saturday to see Janice's son. We will return in October to go to a family reunion.
It rained here briefly today... Janice has been working with photo albums trying to put in pix we have taken on trips together.
Have a blessed rest of the week.

Hanna, Ike, and Josephine... what effect will we have?

Just returned from a week at our timeshare in Kissimmee, Fla. where Hanna was dishing out 30-35 mile an hour winds and wave surges of 18 ft. Cocoa Beach and Daytona had issued surf warnings. We had a restful week at Orange Lake... floated down the Lazy River and played Putt-Putt. Tom and Ann Jordan joined us for several days and what a blessing to enjoy time with them. We have unpacked some but need to finish.
Our pool is green... do not know if it is due to the muddy water coming out of our pipes.
Definitely do not want to drink this.

The Storm Has Passed... Blue Skies Ahead

The rain has passed but now we are left with the aftermath of picking up limbs and branches from the trees. Praise God we did not have any downed trees.
Janice has been entering mother's recipes into a cookbook program that can be published and distributed to family as a legacy to mother since she passed in 2006.
This week will entail Janice volunteering, taking Desi to the vet, going to Lake City, going to our timeshare in Orlando.

We Almost Needed An Ark

We had about ll inches of rain here and water was just standing in yards here... like ponds.
Our dog was smart enough to stay under the garage or on the door stoop instead of getting out in it.
Janice had the privilege of meeting missionaries at the Good Sam Center where she volunteers that I stayed with on a furlough from Vietnam. They were serving in Japan... Dorothy and Austin Warriner. Dorothy is a resident at Good Sam and Austin comes at each meal and feeds her and plays the piano for the residents. Monday is their anniversary and Janice plans to make a celebration cake for them.
Today is church day... a time to WORSHIP our LORD. May we all give just a little back to Him for all the blessings He has given us.

Tropical Storm Fay is HERE

We have had rain since yesterday morning. It is Saturday, August22
Lots of rain, power outages, fallen trees, closed schools, closed govt offices.
Desi spent last night in the house... mistake... she got on the table and got a loaf of french bread off the table. Enjoyed Bruce's house school reunion... it was at Crystal Lake, Illinois. Traveled to Wisconsin and toured the Jelly Belly Factory. Ate lunch at the Parthenon in Greek town in Chicago. Went to church at Hope Community in Chicago and we had church... a true worship of our LORD. Youth sang, had liturgical dance and the pastor gave an excellent sermon.

Post from our New Home in Live Oak

We closed on our new home on May l. We are enjoying our new home with the addition of a Jack Russell Terrier named Desi. Janice is volunteering at the Good Samaritan Center ... an Advent Christian Retirement center where many missionaries have come to live. What a blessing these people are.
We have been blessed with new friends... the Ames and Bertolino's and Knoxes. We have spent some time with David and Dottie Dean and have even been their relief at the Copeland Community Center while they are on vacation for the summer.
We will be traveling to Bruce's high school reunion and will take a vacation at our timeshare in
Orlando. We expect to go to New York for Thanksgiving with Heather, Janice's daughter. Life here is wonderful. We are still looking for a church to plug into. Have visited a number since we have been here.

Slow recovery

There has been no news to report even thou we have been very busy getting ready to move.

Bruce has an infection from the operation and is still draining fluids in part of the wound. He has been put on antibi but has broken out in a very bad rash. Needless to say he tires very easily.

The pods for the house hold items will be here Tues and we plan to leave MAine on Wed the 23rd. Before we leave we are taking Amtrak from Portland to Boston for the day on Monday the 21th with the Knights.

Bruce did preach at a local church last Sunday, he was really honored.

April 18,2008

We are expecting to finish our packing TODAY.
On Monday, we are taking Amtrak with some dear friends, the Knights to Boston. Looking forward to that adventure.
On Tuesday, we will begin packing the pods for delivery to Florida.
Bruce has prescheduled stops for hotels through Priceline and Expedia to get cheaper rates.
Have a few errands today. Need to take my coat and badge back to CMMC where I volunteered while I was here.

April 12,2008

Good Morning one and ALL. It has been raining all night. Awoke and rain had washed some of the snow away. Bruce will be preaching at a local church tommorrow called Christ Temple. We met people from this church when we first arrived in Maine and how fitting for him to preach the next to the last Sunday here. Bruce has been plotting our drive to FLA and booking hotel rooms via priceline so we could get some good deals. Priceline really does work. Try it for yourself. Still trying to complete our packing. Each room seems to have an endless hole where more things seems to surface.

Had friends come over on Saturday and help us do some packing. Still have just a little more to do. Bruce did our taxes over the weekend. Unbelievable to know we will have to pay state taxes even though we only lived there 5 days.
Enough of the snow has melted we will be able to locate our shepherd's hooks and moose snowman.
My daughter turns 26 this Friday.

Things are happeniong to fast

This last week was super busy as we do more packing for the move to Dowling Park area plus a hospital vist to the Boston VA and to the Togus ME VA.

On Tues some dear friends, the Knights, drove us to the West Roxbury VA in Boston to have 40 staples out and one of the drainage tubes removed. On Friday we drove to the Togus VA in Augusta to get the last tube taken out. It feels great not to have to worry about them any more, gives me more freedom. I am still in a good deal of pain for the healing but it beats what it was before the operation. I am still on very limited work for another month or so but the doctor said we could drive to FL.

Our goal is to leave here mid afternoon on April 23, with the household goods reaching our new home on MAY 1. On the way down with the extra time we will stop to preach at a church on NC and may head to the Atlanta, Macon area if I am not to tired.

We do have a home to move to about 1.5 miles from Dowling Park, it is a double wide with a large screened in pool on 4 acres of land. We close on May 1 but it will be a few days before we can move in.

Janice's health is getting better after over 3 months with her bug. She has been the one doing most of the work for packing so I have a great deal to do to make it up that special lady.

Next Sunday I have been asked to preach at a local church which is a real honor.

Close for now, may the Lord bless you

April 2, Blog

We were blessed to be driven to Boston yesterday by Butch Knight to get Bruce's stitches out and one of his drainage tubes. He seems to be improving each day.
My goal for the week is to pack up each room so by SUnday , we only have 5 more rooms to go and then do cleaning. Seems pretty massive at this point but with GOd nothing is IMPOSSIBLE.

Quiet Sunday

Today has been a quiet day for me as I can still not go to church, still have the tubes in me from the operation. Lord willing they will come out on April 1 along with the stitches. Janice was able to attend church with some dear friends.
While home I worked some more the taxes, having to file to states this year so there is a bit more work but we"ll get some money back.
We are very slowly getting packed but Janice is still very tired but seems to be getting better. At this time we are looking to move the 3rd week of April, stopping on the way south to candidate at a church so please remember us in your prayers.
Janice remains the special angel she is by caring for me and fixing mixing meals when she needs to rest. I am so blessed to have her as my wife, wish I was as good for her.
Talked with my grandson Saxon today, always a joy to hear from him.

Sunday, March 30 B log

Heard from a church in North Carolina looking for a pastor so Bruce is sending a resume. We will probably stop on the way to Live Oak and candidate at the church. We plan to go ahead and establish a base home in Live Oak.
I was watching a Cash in the Attic SHow yesterday and saw where a man is trying to establish a breeding home for German shepherds and thought of the idea to buy a German shepherd pup and donate to the police dept as a K-9 pup in my dad's memory. He loved them so much.
Its another Lord's day. Celebrate Him fully today.

A beginning

This is the first of the bloggs by the Harris, we pray that they interest you and will service as an example of how God works in the life of this one family.

We will go into more detail in the next few days and weeks as my strength improves as I recover from my least hernia operation.

Very quickly we have resigned from the ministry at the Auburn Advent Christian church in Maine and are planning to move to Dowling Park Fl area the end of April the first of May
